FAQ #1 - Where can I get a labbit?

Pipkin discovered his plushy labbit cousins at Urban Outfitters
The labbits have been getting a lot of the same kinds of questions over the last couple of years, so they figured they may as well do some FAQ posts. Here's the most frequently asked question of Year of the Labbit:
Where can I get a labbit?

That's an excellent question! The Green Mountain Warren of labbits thanks you for your question and your interest in adopting a labbit. Labbits need your love and want be taken on adventures (else they will sit around your house and watch TV all day). There are many types of labbits, and here's where the labbits recommend you adopt them:

Pipkin hangin' with his peeps at Frank's studio

Frank Kozik - The warren encourages direct support to the artist. Labbit creator Frank Kozik has a limited number of the latest labbit creations on hand to ship directly to you! What better way to receive a labbit than from the hands of the creator himself? The website allows you to specify your name in case you'd like Frank to sign your labbit or your labbit's swingtag. His wife Sharon is in the studio to sure web operations go smoothly, and studio cat/artist muse/poop creator Edward Goralsky oversees all operations...you know...when he wants to. He is a cat after all. Edward Goralsky would appreciate it if you visit his Facebook page and give it a big Like. He's miffed some cross-eyed cat has more fans when clearly, his own spotted Bengal coat and bright green eyes are deserving of more fans.

Pipkin visits Kidrobot SF
Kidrobot - Kidrobot produces Kozik's labbit toys, and along with an online webstore, there are physical retail shops in San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, Miami, New York, Boulder and London, England. Kidrobot carries a wide range of Happy Labbits (mustachioed and innocent eyed) and Smorkin' Labbits (5 o'clock shadow, smorkin' on a ciggie) in vinyl, plush, and all sizes and colorways.

Next, a selection of online fine art toy shops that have labbits:

Toy Art Gallery - Specializing in rare, limited, one-of-a-kind art toys and sculptures

Les Avocado's Lifestyle Pharmacy - Clover Juneau (the girl labbit here on Year of the Labbit) is from Les Avocao! They have all manner of urban vinyl art toys and 1:6 scale figures

Tainted Visions - Lowbrow paintings, art, vinyl toys and plushies galore

Pipkin and his friends Joel Mau5 and Domo hang out at Magic Pony
Magic Pony - The labbits' favorite art gallery and toy store in Toronto! Don't worry, you can order online!

My Plastic Heart - online retailer of designer art toys and collectibles

Pipkin himself (pictured at top and below with his plushy cousins) comes from a boutiquey little fun shop in Port Townsend, WA named ABRACADABRA. They have no online shop, but if you're in the area, step inside and say hello. Tell them Pipkin says "hai!" to everyone still at the shop.  He also recommends adoption at little indie toy shops.

Extended fambly at Urban Outfitters, Burlington VT
Finally, there's large retailers like Urban Outfitters and Barnes and Noble, but both will only carry a small selection of labbits, and the latter doesn't make a point of adopting out toys or building relationships with artists, so who knows how the labbits are treated in store. (At Urban Outfitters, at least the labbits were in the company of other plushies and toys.)

No matter which retailer you choose, please take good care of your labbit...which is info for another FAQ post!

    1. He may like the 2" mini plush Happy Labbits. (Think Masher and Doddy Blue.) It's nice when your travel companion is about the same size. Makes it easier to slip in and out of people's travel bags and hitch rides to interesting places...without paying more admission fees. ;)

    1. The 2" mini Happy Labbit plush labbits are about $7 - $8 each, and I've seen them at Barnes and Noble.

The 5" Happy Labbits that have accessories (Pipkin, Clover) are $20 and you can find them at Barnes and Noble as well.

The 7" plush labbits are around $18 - $25 depending on the color/style and the 14" are around $40. Check out fab.com, they often have labbits on sale.

Good luck growing your labbit family!

Hope you and Piper have many great adventures together! My labbits have been lazy of late, but it is "mud season" here in Vermont. Everything kinda shuts down. :)

    1. Thanks for updating for my readers. I personally have never heard of Books-A-Million. Bruce is an excellent labbit name.

    2. Thanks! And I think you've never heard of this store because it may be only in the South. I'm from Alabama, so that's probably the case. So, if you ever go down south for a visit, be sure to look for one!

  9. I found a vinyl labbit, but he only comes with a zippered mouth. I'd like to feed him or let him breathe a bit, and I can't find any other accessories. Can you help us? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh, he totally needs to breathe...and labbits love to eat! I'd say try the kidrobot forums. I have gotten a lot of accessories through the forum from toy customizers who no longer need the accessories. You might luck out!

Check out your local Barnes & Noble - I've seen lots of different series 2 vinyl labbits there.

    2. Hey, I know this isn't my post, but I'd like to ask a question: I've looked on the forums, and they only have them for a munny, little help please? <3

    3. Grace - it took me years to track down accessories, they're not always available at every time. The other place to look is fleBay, and patiently await someone on the forum selling part of their collection. I know it's frustrating! The labbits are still sold at Barnes & Noble - that might be your best bet at series 2 accessories.

    4. OK!! Thanks so much, I know that the labbits only come with 4 accessories each, so I'll look at my Barnes & Noble and see if they have any I don't(I have 4 vinyl labbits, 16 accessories) I will check fleBay as well. :)

  10. last Christmas, i got a 14 inch white labbit by the name of Hershey! Later i adopted a tiny red one (Cherry) and an all black one (Oreo). We are all so happy living together now and my my mother is taking me on a vacation to Russia and New York!Sadly, Hershey can't make it because he's a tad bit chubby): no offense Hershey!I am taking along Ash and Forest who are stuffed wolves because they are a little more compact ( My favorite animals are wolves) along with Cherry and Oreo. Hopefully he's not too hurt by the fact that he'll have stay home this trip but i'm sure Ash, Forest, Cherry, and Oreo will have tons to talk about to him when they get back!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Don't worry, Hershey will likely be full of mischief while the others are gone. Surely he will have some stories to tell, too. Have a great time in Russia (I'm so jealous!) and New York.

  12. I know this is some what of an older post but, the Best Friend and I have adopted just about ever Labbit and mini Labbit from the Barnes and Noble in our town. They had a small space on a shelf. The pure white ones sold best and there's one more Tiger Labbit I plan on adopting (hopefully) today. She's all alone since our friend adopted her sister.

    2. Well, if this helps,
the clown nose labbit, smiley labbit, and the pirate eye patch ones

  17. do you know where I can find different labbits, they only sell those blind box ones and only have 2 plush labbits they don't have any smorkin labbits, I've never heard of urban outfitters and my parents don't like it when I want to purchase something online unless its ebay

  18. I really like your blog!

  19. LOL! well i got a cow labbit today named Fudge at Barnes and Noble, but he had at least 6 other labbity friends with him! Not to worry I think they treat theirs pretty well, he is a well socialized respectable labbit. I brought Fudge home on a LONG bike ride and he loves his new room. May your mustachioed friends be forever in your favor (HAHA!)

  20. Hi! I am purchasing a vinyl labbit today (like Pipkin!) and i was wondering if you have any name suggestions? I can never think of a good name. Possibly Vincent (Vinny for short)? He is a buck by the way. Thanks! I love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Don't rush the naming! You may have to spend some time with your new labbit before you really know his name. Don't worry, it'll come. Look into his sweet eyes and he will let you know! Vincent is a very good name for a labbit. He may be a Vinny! :)

    1. Hi Sam! I haven't been active with this blog for years, but I've SO wanted to! I opened up a private practice and running a business has been all consuming. It's been several years though, and things are pretty much under control, so I've been thinking a lot about breathing life into this blog again. I'll be doing a US roadtrip later this year, which will be perfect for my labbit and friends!
