Here! Finally! San Francisco! (Now let's sleep.)

Domo approves of the giant shag carpet covered couch.
After 14 hours of travel, (car, coach bus, airplane, airtrain, BART train, city bus and a short hop) Pipkin and Domo finally arrived at Hotel Tomo, where they will stay while in San Francisco. The very friendly and helpful night desk man, Peter, loaded the pair up with local maps and recommendations for food, sights, things to do, and how to get around the city.

Most fun hotel ceiling evar!

Hotel Tomo (Tomo means "friend" in Japanese) is a fun, Japanese pop culture themed hotel in Japantown, with anime playing in the lobby, colorful mural walls by Heisuke Kitazawa, and a special "Player's Suite" with a giant 8' x 5' high definition LCD tv to play games, movies, or to dance and sing into the wee hours of the morning. Cuteness abounds in every detail, from the Do Not Disturb sign, to the stickered elevator walls and the fun furniture and beanbags.

After a long day of travel, Pipkin and Domo are just happy to crash for the night. It's GAME OVER. Earning sleep credits nao. Tomorrow's gonna be a fun filled day!

Lock your doors at night in the city!

In Case of an Emergency Over Water

Okay, so maybe sleeping on the plane didn't go as planned. Instead, Domo and Pipkin got a little silly. If the plane goes down over water, Domo's got the rescue boat covered.

Labbit Travels: BOS to SFO

Finally! Pipkin has been wanting to re-visit the west coast ever since Domo first freed him from Box Life in August 2010. Domo found Pipkin in a boutique toy shop in Port Townsend, WA, and took him under his brown, fuzzy arm for a whirlwind adventure around the Pacific Northwest. Now, Pipkin is excited to visit a little further south down the coast - San Francisco, CA - the home of his creator, Frank Kozik. Not only is he super excited to meet his maker, but he is hoping to meet some of his extended labbit family.

To get to San Francisco, Domo had to arrange hitching a ride to Londonderry, NH, where they caught this giant coach bus to Logan Airport. Pipkin thought the fabric was the most fun fabric EVER. It was like fuzzy rainbow confetti everywhere! Let the party begin!

At the airport, they watched the planes take off from the lounge.

There weren't too many people on the flight. Almost everyone could spread out and take up a section of 3 seats to themselves, so Pipkin and Domo scored their favorite seats - window, over the wing.

Shortly after take-off, Pipkin enjoyed the setting sun over Boston...

...before wondering why they seem to be flying the wrong way! No worries, Pip. Planes take off in the direction of the wind, and land against it. The plane's gonna turn around!

So Pipkin sat back in his seat and buckled in for a long flight. (Finally, the stewardess came by several times to tell them to buckle up and turn off the camera during take-off. Whoops.)

How cool is this? The plane flew right over their home in Bellows Falls, VT!

The best thing about flying East to West during a sunset is the super extended sunset. The colors are brilliant, and sometimes, you can't tell where the land ends and the sky begins. But eventually, the rotation of the earth wins over the aircrafts' speed, so Domo and Pip just chilled in their seats and got a little shut eye.

Goodnight guys, see you on the other side!!

Chillin' In The Shade

Sometimes you can get too much sun, so Clover and her whale friend took some time to chill under the shade.

Labbit Travels: Fun on the Beach in Punta Cana, DR

Clover and her friend hit the beach in the morning and found it populated by many hoomans. Inspired by their play, Clover decided she should try being buried in the sand.

Of course, labbits do tend to dig and create burrows and warrens so this isn't too unnatural. Clover rather likes it!

The Ocean At Night

She doesn't look happy here, but believe me, this little whale is very happy to be by the ocean. She's been riding the tide as it comes high onto the shore, and then sitting on the sand to watch it roar away. Clover decided to stay out of the picture and give the whale some much needed solitude and peace.

Even under moonlight the waters are Caribbean Blue.

Goo-nite, ocean. See you tomorrow...

Labbit Travels: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Clover and her munko whale friend (who desperately needs a name because typing munko whale friend is awkward) have arrived in their hotel room. Clover is rather pleased with the size of the bed. Her munko whale friend (awkward, awkward!) would rather be out on the beach. The sun is setting, and Clover promises to be out on the beach after sunset.

Pipkin Plans for San Francisco

While Clover and her whale friend are in Punta Cana, Pipkin and Domo are back in Vermont planning their trip to San Francisco. Pipkin found a cool hotel in Japantown called Hotel Tomo, which is a "hip Japanese anime themed hotel" with lots of cuteness and wall murals by artist Heisuke Kitazawa. The hotel even boasts a "Players Suite" with an 8x5 foot LCD HDTV so you can play games until your eyes bleed. Quite sure Captain Holly would get his game on in that room, but Pipkin and Domo don't want to hole up in a hotel the entire time, they want to explore the city! When their feet are weary from their travels they are sure to enjoy sprawling out on the comfy beds with the monster pillows. So excited, can't wait to go!

Labbit Travels: YYZ to PUC

Watching the planes take off from Terminal 1 in Toronto, Canada.

Clover decided to take her little whale friend on a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Even though Vermont's winter was mild, early spring is still very brown and dismal. Clover really needed to get away during Mud Season, and she knew her little whale friend missed the ocean, so they booked a last minute trip, hitching a ride with some kind travelers in Toronto, Canada, so that's why you see them in the YYZ airport instead of Boston. Canadians are just so nice!

This giant bronzed kitty kindly pet Clover as she hopped around underfoot. The petting helped calm her down. She's never been on a airplane before, so she was quite nervous.

Clover and the whale scored a window seat so they could see where they were going. Here, they are just sitting on the tarmac awaiting take-off. Very exciting!

Having seen Pipkin's pictures of his trip to Toronto with Domo and Joel Mau5, Clover could tell the tall building in the center of the photo above was the CN Tower. This photo was taken shortly after take-off, and you can see south into downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario.

Clover gave her friend a turn at the window once they passed over the continental United States and were over the ocean. It sure is big and blue...

...as is the sky, even dotted with clouds, you can't get over how blue it all is. The munko whale said she'd probably enjoy swimming in the clouds.

Don't these waters look so warm and inviting?

Once the water views went away, Clover knew they were getting close! And this view is a lot more like it...lots of green rolling hills, just waiting for labbits!
